It was yet another brilliant performance from India as they beat West Indies in the fifth ODI to clinch the series 3-1. India’s unbeaten streak at home continues to prosper as Virat Kohli bags another series win to his account.
The fifth ODI in Thiruvananthapuram didn’t last more than four hours as Indian bowlers bundled out West Indies for just 104 runs. It was yet another flop show from West Indies batting line up who certainly needs to introspect about the reasons for their plight. West Indies top-order batting woes continue as the opening pair yet again failed to stitch a decent partnership together.
The first wicket came only in the fourth ball of the first over of the innings in the form of Kieran Powell for 0. Out of Rytham, Bhuvneshwar Kumar came firing on Thursday who bowled extremely well for his four overs. India put West Indies in all sorts of trouble in only the second over after Bumrah cleaned up in-form Shai Hope for 0, leaving West Indies tottering at 2 for 2.
Barring Marlon Samuels and skipper Jason Holder who showed a little fight before giving away their wicket, no batsman could even reach the two-figure mark as West Indies bundled got all out for 104 inside 32 overs, courtesy a brilliant spell from Ravindra Jadeja (34-4 in 9.5 overs).
India’s Skipper and Vice-Captain didn’t let Windies to even think of winning from there as the duo put on another brilliant partnership of 95 runs to help India seal the series 3-1.
