After registering the first test against Australia by 31 runs, the spirited Indian side is as joyous as ever, going ahead at the second test in Perth. For the first time in the history of Indian Test cricket, Indian Team has won the first test on an Australian tour, leading the series 1-0. However, the skipper Kohli is completely aware of the fact that they still need to go a long way to register their first series triumph in Australia.
Going ahead at the second test in Perth, it would be another test for the batsmen as the pitch in Perth boasts of its extreme pace and bounce and is also touted to be one of the fastest pitches in the world.
India’s rising star Prithvi Shaw seems to miss the second test as well owing to the ankle injury he suffered during the practice match against Australia XI. According to a Hindustan Times report, the right-handed batsman is yet not fully fit going ahead at the second test which will probably give Rahul and Vijay another chance to cement their chances permanently in the remaining tests.
Looking at the pitch, both teams will be tempted to bring in the fourth bowler in the side, however, with Ashwin ’s ability to bat down the order and an impressive performance in the first test, Virat might settle with three seamers and one spinner only.
Going with five-bowler and six-batsmen policy would surely be a big no for Virat as Australian bowlers would be coming all guns blazing in Perth, given that pitch favours fast bowlers.
Rohit’s Sharma once again missed out the opportunity in the Adelaide test to cement his place in the side. The right-handed batsman looked well in the first innings, however, gave his wicket to Lyon for 37, in an attempt to take him on. With scores of 37 and 1, Rohit’s place might be in question, however, Virat would, perhaps, give him one more opportunity, keeping in mind the pitch in Perth would suit Rohit’s style of play.
The trio of Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami bowled brilliantly in the first test, claiming 14 wickets out of 20 at Adelaide. The trio has lately been treated as racehorses, in a bid to give complete rest with the second test just two days away.
