India’s current best fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been attracting a lot of praise across the cricket fraternity owing to his superb bowling in the last couple of years. So far in the series, the 25-year old fast bowler has scalped the most number of wickets (11) for India, taking the vitals breakthroughs when India required the most.
Former Australian legendary fast bowler Dennis Lillee also lauded Bumrah, calling him a different bowler who reminds him of his mate Jeff Thompson.
“I think Jasprit Bumrah is very very interesting. He runs
off a very short run-up,” said Lillee.
"He jogs and then bowls with a very short run. He has got straight
arms. His bowling is not a textbook by any means,
but it works. He is very different from other pace bowlers,
which reminds me of another fast bowler of my era, who was
very different from everyone else - Jeff Thomson.” he
"He is not as fast as Jeff Thomson was but similar in the sense
that they were outside the guidelines of normal fast bowling
action or technique," Lillee told Ananda Bazar Patrika in an
Lillee praised Indian quicks, saying that the Indian bowling attack bowled superbly in both the test matches, perhaps, without much luck in their favour.
"They are so well equipped in the pace bowling department now
that if they have to pick four, they can pick four. And whatever little
I have seen of them, they are very very good Test bowlers.
I am pretty impressed with the way they bowled in the first two
Test matches in Australia. They could have had a bit more luck,
India will meet Australia in the third test in Melbourne on 26 December 2018.
