An on-field sledging duel between Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant and his counterpart Tim Paine in the third Test at MCG gave a sweet and hilarious outcome. In an Instagram story, Paine’s wife Bonnie posted a picture of Pant with her babies and captioned "best babysitter."
During the third Test match on Friday, the duo was involved in a heavy banter that was caught by the stump microphone. The Australia skipper was heard asking Pant if he can babysit his kids when he (Paine) takes his wife to the movie.
"Tell you what, big MS (Dhoni) is back in the one day squad too. We might get him down to the (Hobart) Hurricanes this bloke. We need a batter! Fancy that Pantsy, surely? Extend your little Aussie holiday. Beautiful town Hobart too. Get you a nice apartment on the water front. (I) can have you over for dinner. Do you babysit? (Can I) take the wife to the movies one night, you can look after the kids?" Paine taunted.
The next day, when Paine was batting in the Australian second innings, Pant gave him a brutal response.
"We've got a special guest today. Have you heard of a temporary captain ever? Have you heard of it? Have you heard of anything like a temporary captain ever? You don't need anything to get him out, boy. He loves to talk. That's the only thing he can do boy. Only talking, talking," Pant retorted.
India beat Australia by 137 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match Test series, but Paine’s 'babysitting' wish was fulfilled after Pant accepted the challenge and went on to babysit and meet the Aussie captain’s family.
The fourth Test and the final Test of the series will kick off on Thursday at Sydney Cricket Ground.
