A day after the ODI win at Adelaide Oval, praise for India and the playing squad are pouring in from the corners. Among them is Mohammad Azharuddin, who believed that the most trending cricketer of the year Virat Kohli can get his 100 ODI centuries sooner or later.
Azharuddin hailed Kohli, who scored his 39th ODI century down under during the 2nd ODI against the hosts, which India won by six wickets. The former India captain said the 30-year-old batsman’s consistency was good at the moment and believed he can achieve the milestone if he stays fit.
“He is a great player and India have hardly lost whenever he has scored a century,” Azharuddin told Aaj Tak.
Azharuddin, who scored seven ODI tons in his 334 appearances, also praised MS Dhoni’s role in 6-wicket win on Tuesday. He said the dashing wicketkeeper-batsman kept his wicket intact even after he got tired.
Kohli knocked an impressive 104 off 112 balls after openers Rohit Sharma (43) and Shikhar Dhawan (32) established the concrete start to the India’s innings. Dhoni (55) and Dinesh Karthik (25) maintained the scoring to help India level the series 1-1.
Australia won the first match in Sydney by 34 runs. The third and final ODI in Melbourne on Friday will decide the series.
