Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets in what his first and final match in the recently concluded T-20 series against New Zealand. His figures of 2 for 26 helped him rise to the second position in the ICC T-20 bowler ranking behind Rashid Khan, world number one T-20 bowler in the world.
India could not manage to win the final T-20 against New Zealand, thus lose the series 2-1 on Sunday. However, wrist Spinner Kuldeep Yadav moved up a notch to attain his career-best second ranking. Team India dropped two points owing to series-defeat, however; still, maintain to sit at number two position in the T-20 team ranking behind Pakistan.
Barring Kuldeep, no other Indian bowler features in the top ten, with Chahal dropped to 17th and Bhuvneshwar Kumar maintaining 18th position in the rankings.
Looking at the batsmen’s list, KL Rahul who wasn’t selected in the series sinks to 10th position while openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are at sitting at seventh and eleventh position respectively. Skipper Virat Kohli had to pay the price for missing out of the series as he dropped four points to be languishing at 19th position in the ranking. Pakistan’s batsman Babar Azam is leading the chart with 885 points.
India’s next assignment will be the T-20 series against Australia, starting from 24 February 2019.
