Boston Celtics overcame the Brooklyn Nets 112-104, ending the visitors’ six-game winning streak on Monday night. Injury plagued Nets were looking for an away win in their seventh game only to crash and burn after a good start to the season.

The Celtics started slow playing without the star Kyrie Irving, who was sidelined with a left hip strain. But they drew the first blood with 3s from Smart and Terry Rozier.

Jaylen Brown and Smart each scored 21 points to recover their team from a setback 115-111 against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night. Aron Baynes added 16 points, Marcus Morris made 15, and Al Horford and Rozier each had 14 points for the hosts at TD Garden.

The Celtics maintain their pose with a quick 11-0 lead in the final quarter. After the win, they have improved to 31-19 in the Eastern Conference.

D’Angelo Russell added 25 points and Shabazz Napier had 20 for the Nets. They had won 19 of their previous 24 games.

The Celtics play the Charlotte Hornets at the Garden, while the Nets take on the Chicago Bulls at Barclays Center on Wednesday.
