Defending champions Barcelona stormed into the fifth round of the Copa del Rey with a comfortable 4-1 with over Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa at the Nou Camp. They completed a 5-1 aggregate win over the Segunda Division Group 1 side to keep on track to win the title for a fifth successive season.
Denis Suarez struck twice as the youthful Barca made it their way even without the help of superstars Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho who were rested for the game.
The 24-year-old Spain midfielder scored in the 26th and 70th minute against the visitors to guide his team to the last 16 of the competition.
Munir El Haddadi opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a beautiful curl into the top left of the net, beating goalkeeper Jorge Palatsi.
Suarez paced up from the left wing to the edge the box before sending a long volley into the extreme left of the goal post and deflected it into the back of the net.
Malcom notched his second goal for Barca this season in the 43rd minute with a strong header from Ivan Rakitic’s pass, making a comprehensive 3-0 lead.
Just after the second-half kickoff, Barca goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen made a fail attempt to stop Jose Alonso and rebounded to Josep Sene who scored the only goal for Leonesa.
Ernesto Valverde’s side recorded a comprehensive win, but the team ended with 10 men as Malcom was pulled out with a sprained ankle before the final whistle.
