Real Kashmir on Tuesday reached the third spot after crushing Shillong Lajong 6-1 in the Hero I-League clash at the TRC Turf in Srinagar. Abednego Tetteh scored twice as the debutante team dominated Lajong, who were slumped throughout the game.
The Ghanian striker Tetteh opened the scoring in the 25th minute before his mates Mason Robertson (37'), Nagen Tamang (42'), Gnohere Krizo (50'), and Surchandra Singh (74') get the strike on occasions.
Coach David Robertson’s Kashmir played the game with an unchanged side that defeated Aizawl 1-0 in the previous match.
Samuel Lyngdoh scored the lone goal for Lajong, an equalizer in the 28th minute in the goal-fest evening. But the balance of the game fell as Robertson netted the second goal off a Surchandra Singh corner. Tamang joined the first-half entertainment when he struck the third goal from a close range.
Ivorian striker Krizo started the second-half goal shower when he converted the goal from a penalty kick. The joy ride continued when Surchandra netted the fifth goal of the game. However, it was Tetteh, who had an incredible evening when he struck his second goal in the 83rd minute, hammering the final nail in Lajong’s coffin.
With this home victory, Kashmir leveled the points with Churchill Brothers, who are in the second position because of the goal difference, Lajong are sitting at the 10th place in the table.
