Jose Mourinho has been sacked as manager by Manchester United with immediate effect on Tuesday. The club said they will announce a caretaker manager with 48 hours.
“Manchester United has announced that Jose Mourinho has left the Club. We would like to thank him for his work during his time at Manchester United and wish him success in the future,” United wrote on Twitter.
United kicked off the season with losing most of their Premier League games, making the worst in 28 years. Mourinho’s future was at stake after the latest 1-3 disaster to Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield.
The 55-year-old Portuguese also apparently had poor relationship with some players in the camp, including Paul Pogba and Antonio Valencia who were forced to apologize for 'liking' an Instagram post calling for Mourinho to be sacked.
Reports said that former United player Michael Carrick will be appointed interim manager to look after affairs before the club appointed an external candidate in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Meanwhile, some major possible names for the permanent job are popping up in the rumors. Names like Zinedine Zidane, Arsene Wenger, Ryan Giggs, and Leonardo Jardim among others are favorite for the United job.
