After the long turns and twists journey, India finally made in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 under the foreign coach Stephen Constantine. The least favorite team who finished bottom of their group in World Cup 2018 qualifier, are playing in the Asian Cup after a gap of 8 years.

In the cricket crazy nation, where the majority of the population idolized batsmen and bowlers, the Blue Tigers emerged as one gritty team from the South East Asia to participate in the biggest continental competition.

Keeping the disappointing days of losing away, India are gearing up for the new game with new tactics. They live their dream to battle the tough countries in the showdown in the United Arab Emirates. 

Group matches

Team India, currently ranked 97th in the FIFA table, is placed in the Group A, alongside the hosts UAE, Bahrain, and Thailand. They will play

India in the competition

The Blue Tigers had qualified for the Asian Cup for the fourth time. Besides the upcoming 2019 UAE edition, they had played in 1964, 1984, and 2011. Their best finish was runners-up 1964 in Israel.

Average age of Indian team members is 25. Captain Sunil Chhetri, 34, is the oldest player in the squad. The veteran who has scored 65 goals from 103 international appearances is only surviving member of the 2011 team. 

Anirudh Thapa, the 20-year-old midfielder will be India's youngest player in the Asian Cup.
