Leaders Liverpool lost two important points, clearing of only three points in the Premier League table after they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Hammers on Monday.

Jurgen Klopp's side failed to recover from the first-half equalizer thanks to their sloppy defensive error at the London Stadium.

Sadio Mané opened the scoring in the 22nd minute as he collected a pass from Aaron Cresswell turned around to a fire a beautiful volley past Lukasz Fabianski. James Milner seemed to be in an offside position but the referee ruled out any misconduct.

The celebration for 1-0 lead didn’t last long for the visitors when Michail Antonio’s equalizer came in just six minutes after the first goal. The English winger paced up in the right flank and collected an uncanny free kick from Felipe Anderson and finished off with a low strike into the right goal post.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men are now five points cleared of the 13th placed Brightons. They are unbeaten in three consecutive home league games for the first time since February 2018.

With Manchester City’s victory in on Sunday against Arsenal, the title race is wide opened for the top four teams. The Reds are likely to lose their position if City beat Everton on Wednesday.
