India outclassed Australia in the recently concluded test series, winning the series 2-1 for the first time in 71 years as the focus shifts to white ball cricket, with the first ODI scheduled to be played tomorrow at Sydney. India will look to continue dominance against Australia down under as we present you our India’s predicted eleven for the first ODI:
1. Rohit Sharma
India’s vice-captain would like to continue his outstanding run in 2018 to 2019 as well, as Rohit would be all geared up for his first One-day of 2019. We hope, the 31-year-old batsman would score a century in his first game against one of his favourite oppositions.
2. Shikhar Dhawan
Like Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan also had a wonderful year, scoring 897 runs at an average of 49.83. Keeping in mind, World Cup just 4 months away, Dhawan would like to only go far from here.
3. Virat Kohli
After winning the test series, skipper Kohli would be looking to clinch the ODI series as well. Ahead of the first ODI, it would be interesting to see what bowling combination he would pursue with.
4. Ambati Rayudu
Owing to a couple of spectacular performances in West Indies, Rayudu has certainly sealed his place at number four position. He would be looking to carry his good form going ahead of the series.
5. MS Dhoni
For the last couple of years, MS Dhoni hasn’t been in the best of form, scoring only 275 runs in 13 innings. Ahead of the first ODI, he would look to improve his numbers this year.
6. Dinesh Kartik
Dinesh Kartik has been proving to be a strong case for number six position owing to his match-winning performances in the series against West India and the Asia Cup of course. He would be looking to make the most of the opportunity in the series.
7. Ravindra Jadeja
Apart from his bowling, Jadeja has looked good with the bat as well; scoring 81 not out in the Sydney test. Jadeja’s skill in the shorter format has never been a question, someone who excels in all three departments.
8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
After not getting a chance to bowl in the Test series, B Kumar will be spearheading the attack along with Shami. In the absence of Bumrah, Bhuvi will play a vital role in the series against the Aussies.
9. Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami will go in as the second fast bowler in the team who will also play a crucial role in the series. With the World cup ahead, the series against Australia will be the ideal opportunity for Shami to cement his place in the squad.
10. Kuldeep Yadav
Ever since Kuldeep has been drafted into the squad, the left-arm spinner didn't disappoint Virat for not even a single occasion. So far, Kuldeep has picked up 67 wickets in 33 one-day Internationals for India with an Impressive strike rate of 11.55.
11. Khaleel Ahmed
Being the only left-arm pacer in the team who has swing and Pace in his armory, Khaleel’s future is certainly bright. The 21-year-old lad has a chance to book his place for the World cup with good displays in the Australian conditions.
